AmeriCorps Member Positions Available in Dane County, Wisconsin!

Partners for After School Success (PASS) AmeriCorps is seeking part-time members! PASS is offering opportunities to serve 300 hours from June 10 through August 31, 2019. Service opportunities are available at multiple host sites throughout Dane County.

Members are responsible for serving middle or high school youth at their designated host site by co-facilitating camps, enrichment clubs and service projects. PASS offers members a direct service experience with on-site supervisory support, the chance to explore career interests and build your resume while changing the life of a youth.

Requirements: Corps Members commit to serve 300 hours between June 10 and August 31, 2019. Applicants must be 17 years of age or older, a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, have a high school diploma or GED, and pass a criminal background check. We provide training. Previous youth work experience paid or volunteer is a plus!

Members receive a living allowance of $2520 ($420 bi-weekly, pre-tax); are able to put qualified student loans in forbearance; may apply for the WI FoodShare program (eligibility determined by the State); receive gear and an education award of $1252.91 upon successful completion of the term.

Summer PASS AmeriCorps

Summer PASS AmeriCorps members join a dedicated team of staff and volunteers to help deliver a variety of programs and services to a vibrant and diverse Oregon community. AmeriCorps members gain experience mentoring, team building, gardening, planning community service projects and serving youth. Members gain knowledge about positive youth development and non-profit management.

Summer PASS AmeriCorps members will serve 300 hours assisting in the programming and implementation of programs to students participating in the Oregon Youth Center, Inc. (OYC) Summer Program.

1. Assist with the development, preparation, delivery, and supervision of summer programs
2. Assist in planning and implementing specific program components such as outdoor education, fitness and nutrition programming, ongoing gardening projects, youth leadership skills, youth goal setting.
3. Develop and engage youth in community service projects.
4. Assist in record keeping and program reporting of PASS activities
5. Maintain OYC Center space, materials, and equipment in proper working condition.
6. Ensure a safe and enriching environment for all summer participants.
7. Participate in OYC and PASS AmeriCorps orientation

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Meets all AmeriCorps citizenship, age and background check requirements
2. Demonstrated interest in serving youth in a diverse Youth Center setting.
3. Is able to complete 300 service hours between June 13 and August 31, 2019.

Summer Schedule: On June 13th AmeriCorps members will participate in VCNC and AmeriCorps orientation from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

OYC summer programming runs from June 14th through September 1st. Depending on when the AmeriCorps Member needs to leave for school, they will put in between 27 and 30 hours each week.

4:30-5:00 Clean up and next day preparation.

Job Summary (Essential Functions)
Assists the Youth Center Director in design, development and implementation of programs, activities, and events for youth center attendees.

Job Tasks (Additional Responsibilities)

  • Assist Director with the daily direct services of the center.
  • Serve as Director in his/her absence, handling emergencies and problems with youth enter attendees.
  • Work directly with the youth, teens and adults at the youth center.
  • Record and complete accurate records when necessary (incident, accident, etc.)
  • Maintain a positive, safe atmosphere for all center youth as well as serve as a positive role model.
  • Attend meetings as requested by Director.
  • Assist in programming activities and co-coordinate in facilitating them.
  • Performs other appropriate tasks as assigned by the Director.

Specific Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be able to work some evenings and weekends
  • Must be able to pass a background check

Reports to Youth Center Director.
